The Return

Greetings everyone,

I foolishly told people this week I'd be writing a post about the return of the Divine Masculine.  Yes you read that last sentence correctly.  Before you start flaming my comment thread let me explain a little.

The Divine Masculine is not the same thing as the Patriarchy.  It isn't an angry father figure that loves you while simultaneously tanning your hide for all eternity for disobedience.  It isn't a deity which cherishes only virgins while telling people born without the "correct" genitalia that daddy knows best, while screaming about TRADITION.

I was recently was talking with a friend of mine about the patriarchy and why it needs to die...soon, tonight if possible.  There is a misconception that women are the only ones that are harmed by the patriarchy, not so.  Here is my list of what the patriarchy does to men:  it cuts us off from our emotions,  it narrowly defines what we "should" be interested in (I'm looking at you beer commercials), it sabotages our relationships (you need emotional awareness for that), it tells us that our value is directly dependent on our bank account, it convinces us that our only power is how forceful and destructive we can be, and it shows us that if a woman achieves something that somehow lessens our worth.  Quite simply as men we're taught to not care, and that leaves a big emptiness.

So what is the Divine Masculine?  It is very hard to say given the thousands of years of propaganda on gender roles.  Hence my difficulty in this blog post.  There is a lot being written on awakening the Divine Feminine and honoring that energy in women.  I like that I can totally get into the whole Goddess thing. (No that is not sarcasm or a euphemism).  I've had excellent role models of women in my life embodying the sacred feminine and claiming their power.

So when people talk about the return of the Divine Feminine I got to thinking did she go off by herself for a few millennia?  The conclusion I drew is that she took her boyfriend with her.  Yes The Divine Masculine will be accompanying her back into the consciousness of humanity.  It really made a lot of sense it's yin and yang, you don't have one without the other.  So cosmic mommy and daddy are going to be nudging us in new directions.  So what does it all mean?  For me at least it means I have to examine all the assumed cultural roles.  What does it mean to be a man? What does it mean to be a woman?  Are these even the right questions?  Why are we so afraid to look below gender to the spirit within?Maybe we should be asking what does it mean to be human?  Who am I?  Did you immediately reference your genitalia status in reference to your identity, do you want that to be what defines you?  We've had the placeholders of masculinity and femininity for thousands of years as convenient (if at times somewhat inaccurate) categories to define ourselves.  They are easy and simple, but the cost of relying on them is that we lose the complexity of the individual.  The Divine Masculine in me seems to be a Trickster he wants to stir things up.  He wants to make you have to think.  (Don't worry he makes me do it too....homework again bleh).

Well ladies and gents I hope I've given you something to think about.  I hope you aren't too offended.  I also hope that you start to look at things beneath the level of gender to see the people we all are within our own hearts.

Peace and Blessings,

Winds of the Equinox

Greetings,

Spring equinox already I can hardly believe it.  Especially with a temperature near freezing.  I have been enjoying the small maple blossoms in the tree out back.  The changing light slightly brighter than winter's silvery sun has been highlighting the grey limbs and red blossoms against a clear blue sky.  So it was a lovely if cold day when I set out to drum at the local park.

Those of you who know me or have visited my website know that I always do a special drumming ceremony on the equinoxes and the solstices.  I started that last year when I designed my premium service the Year of Transformation.  It has been a wild ride for me just conducting them.  Who knew the change that would be unleashed for me by just facilitating for others.  Sometimes I wonder why do I even do this work because it does force me to adapt constantly.  Sort of like a mama bird pushing the babies out of the nest so they learn how to fly.  (Hint I am not the mama bird in that scenario).

So I went to the park mostly because I thought the other tenants in my office building wouldn't appreciate me banging on my very loud drum in the middle of the workday.  It was that or wait till after hours and with the return of more light I wanted to drum during the day.  Performing ceremony in a public space is always a little bit intimidating.   You never know if there is going to be a crowd, a school group on a field trip, people with excitable pets, policemen with their own ideas about acceptable public noise making, and the odd heckler who just has to interrupt your sacred ceremony because they think you look foolish.  (I happen to think I look foolish too, but it isn't confined to ceremonial time).  All these things were running through my mind, and yet I had a spiritual commitment.

So I arrived at the park and probably due to the cold almost no one was there.  A few joggers were in the distance from where I set up on the picnic tables.  When I began the winds picked up.  The crows called out, and as cold as it was I could feel the power that is spring come forth.  A co worker of mine told me about the winds of the equinox a year or so ago, that they come through suddenly.  It felt right to be outside as cold as it was in the wind drumming to welcome the spring, honoring my teachers, my ancestors, the spirits that help me, all the people in my mesa, and my own self for committing to a practice.  It all came together a sacred rite performed on a picnic table.

So where can your claim sacredness amidst a human world that seems to have forgotten it?  Are you like me sometimes afraid of showing your power? Do you like me spend time worrying about what others think, if so how much?  Do you carry shame for not being like everyone thinks you should be?  If you answered yes to any of these questions don't worry you're in good company.  I don't suggest we shouldn't give consideration to the feelings and beliefs of others.  What I do suggest is that we carry less fear and shame about our own sacred nature.  Allow the rhythm of nature to fill you, and maybe you will hear the sound of a drum on the song of the wind.

Times they are a changing

Greetings everyone,

It seems as if this past week has just zoomed past me.  Of course we sprang our clocks forward last Sunday so that helped a bit.  The time change.  Twice a year we fool ourselves by trying to pull a fast one on the time.  I don't know about you but my body hasn't been fooled one bit.  It seems this year the time change has hit myself and several other people I know particularly hard.  Is it the increased vibration of the earth's field, or is it that we are tuning in more clearly to our bodies?

A single hour can change your life.  Think of how differently you feel when the time changes.  You're hungry at the wrong time, you can't seem to sleep right, and there is the underlying sensation that something is definitely off.  I am not writing this post as a complaint, but an observation of how delicate our rhythms can be.  We are forced to take a look at them when daylight savings time begins.  For instance, if you are a night owl like me you suddenly find it even harder to get things done and get into bed at anything resembling a reasonable hour.

Perhaps we can take comfort in our biorhythms in a world hopped up on the idea of constant motion.  Maybe we should give ourselves a little time to adjust.  Change even when it is good puts stress on us.  It is alright to jump right into something, there are times when abrupt departures and a clean slate are exactly what we need.  Though I've noticed we often cut ourselves a little more slack when we make those moves.  We know we don't have it all together and that's okay because it is all new.  What would happen if we gave our self the same kind of consideration when we made small changes?  A series of small changes can lead to a profound transformation.  For me that is how I generally operate, I incorporate something new and let it run for a while before making the next adjustment.

So change one thing.  What one thing would it be?  Start small yet go for something that counts.  Maybe you want to be healthier or appear more fit, so add a walk to your day.  Maybe you'd like more peace , so try five to ten minutes of slow deep breaths every day.  Maybe you'd like to be more social, so make eye contact and smile when you pass by somebody.  Maybe you change a thought, just one to something that makes you feel better about you and your place in the world.  Try it out see what happens.

Ghost chakra

Greetings everyone,

Today I thought I would do a more technical blog.  Well technical for my field of play that is.  Chakras, specifically what I call ghost chakras.  Many people have heard of the spinning vortexes of light either in yoga traditions, healing energy modalities, or meditative practices.  Basically they are energy centers where information from the larger field gets routed into the body's systems.  Besides the the visceral function of the organs each chakra also influences areas of life: creativity, relationships, sexuality, will power, sense of self, imagination, psychic ability, and connection to spirit.

So what are ghost chakras?  Well they don't wear sheets and go, "BOO!"  At least none of the ones I've encountered do.  What I refer to as a ghost chakra is when a condition , thought form, or entity has set up an extra energy center within a person's field to sustain itself.    I guess I should explain what I mean when I say thought form too huh.  I refer to a thought form as a pattern of thinking or idea that has been thought so much it basically takes on a life of its own.  It acts independently of the person who originally created it.  That's not to say all thought forms are bad. Some are quite helpful and useful.  (For instance if you constantly thought how lucky you are or how you always seem to meet the right sort of people).  Entities I generally don't ever think of as helpful if they are occupying your body.  Basically they are living rent free, leeching energy at best, creating behavioral problems at worst.

With a condition that has set up a ghost chakra it makes it extra difficult to get rid of the condition for good.  You may experience relief for a time, but then it bounces back.  With entities it is like leaving a door open or not getting the keys back from your ex.  It can just waltz right back in, or even if you banish it to another plane of existence some other troublemaker will come along and find you've left your back door unlocked.  Thought forms can actually function like entities if they have enough coherence and energy behind them.

So now that I have thoroughly freaked you out (this is like the bed bugs of the energetic world just makes you itch to read about it doesn't it)? What to do about it?  Well if you do regular maintenance on your mind/body connection you probably get most infant ghost chakras before they fully form.  Regular sea salt baths are a good idea.  They are generally good energetic maintenance and an excuse to spend a long time soaking in hot water. You can always say, "Hey this is for my spiritual well being!"   If you work with your chakras regularly just scan your field after you work on your "normal" chakras (numbers will vary depending on which system you use).  I tend to see them as sort of half transparent and a misty gray, and they are usually leeching off of one of the main chakras.  How they appear to you may be different.  If you find take it out.  Think of it like a weed in your vegetable garden get it from the root and don't leave any strands.

I was recently removing ghost chakras from a friend and thought, "Geez I should have added this to  the Quantum Chakra Clearing when I did it."  Now the cool thing about how I did that event was the space I did it in.  When I do events I will often set up a workspace outside of space-time.  A spirit guide gave me this hyper dimensional cube that I can expand to encompass a person, space, time, or all of the above.  So I thought to myself for a moment and realized I could add it to the download even though I hadn't yet done it when it had been recorded.  This is the cool part of what I refer to as retro-active causality.  Basically an event in the future can affect or cause an event in the past.  It's a lot to wrap your mind around for sure.  Sometimes I send myself a little energy from one moment in time back to a point where I needed it.  It's good to help yourself out after all.

So my avid readers whomever you are you may be asking how does this apply to me?  Well chakras are useful ideas and symbolic placeholders for concepts (like any system).  You could have someone in your life who is functioning like a "ghost chakra".  Someone who is diverting your flow of energy or attention from the things you need to stay healthy and happy, and using that attention or energy to simply maintain themselves.  An activity or job that takes more than it gives back could also be a "ghost chakra". So take stock now and then not just of your energy field but your relationships, your activities, and your commitments.  Could be time to do a little ghost busting.

Peace and Blessings,
